Dear E-Pal,

Hi, my name is Katie. I am in the 6th grade at Fultondale Elementary. Our school is in Birmingham, Alabama.  Just recently we have gotten a new school. We have a big gym with blue flooring. We also have an amphitheater, a lunchroom with a stage, a track, and we are getting a playground. We do not have a middle school, so all of the 6th graders that pass will go to the high school.

What is your name? What are your hobbies? What school do you attend? What grade are you in? How old are you and when is your birthday? What are your favorite colors? What is your favorite song and movie? What do you want to be when you grow up?

My hobbies are dancing, reading, and collecting Webkinz (a stuffed animal). When I grow up I want to be a photographer, an orthodontist, or a hair stylist. My favorite books are Charlie Bone Series, A Wrinkle in Time, and Magic Tree House. I love to play soccer. My favorite colors are hot pink, lime green, blue-green, and purple. My birthday is October 3rd and I will be 12. I have a sister named Anna in the 5th Grade and a brother named Trip in 1st Grade.

This past summer I got to go to a dance competition. It was in Las Vegas. I had a blast. The only thing I hated was it was so HOT. The temperature reached up to 116 degrees! My sister, the rest of the dancers and I got two 1st places and two 2nd places. Some of the hotels there were lots of fun things to do like at one of the hotels there was a whole level of arcades, also a roller coaster, and there was a hotel with a giant bubble. Inside of it were all kinds of rides.  Also there was a Coke-A-Cola Factory and M&M World! Las Vegas is so fun!

This summer I also got to go with Mrs. Ramsay and 4 other students to Atlanta to a conference.  It was awesome.  We were chosen to go and speak about our E-pal Project.  I met people from all over the world.  We got a lot of free stuff from companies too!

                                                                     Your E-Pal,

Dear E-pal,

Hi, my name is Lynn.  I live in Birmingham, Alabama.  I am new to Fultondale Elementary. I do not know were any thing is in the school yet. I have no clue where the office is, the art room and, writing lab is.  I am ten years old. I am in the fifth grade, I have two teachers, and their names are Mrs. Ramsay and, Mrs. Wicker.  They are very nice.  We have to use the clickers to take a test.   I have six friends so far. They are very nice and kind. My teachers are nice and kind also.  I like all types of things like shopping, movies, skating, food, and sports. My favorite colors are blue, green, and red.  My favorite subject is math.   In Alabama, it is very hot. Right now it is one hundred five degrees.  People call Birmingham the Magic City because our city grew very quickly when they started mining iron.  We have a football game called the Magic City Classic.  Alabama has a beach also. The name of it is, Gulf Shores.  For my summer I went to Atlanta, Georgia.  It’s about 2 hours away from here.

Now I have questions for you E-pal!  What is it like in Arizona?  Is it cold, hot, or warm?  What is your name, e-pal?  Where do you live E-pal?  Do you live in a house or apartment?  Are you a car or bus rider at your school?  Where is your school located?  What is the name of your school?  What subjects do you have in class?  What is your teacher’s name?  What is your favorite subject?  What grade are you in?  Do you have different activities in your school?  What is your favorite color?  Do you have a pet?

I’m so glad that you are going to be my e-pal this year.  I can’t wait for you to write me back.  Please write back soon!

Dear E-pal,

Hi my name is Ally and I am nine years old.  My favorite things to do are reading, playing with my puppy, and watching TV.  I’m in the fifth grade. My teacher’s name is Mrs. Ramsay.  I have one puppy; her name is Precious.  I have one sister; she still lives with me,  my mom and dad.  My mom’s name is Kelli, and my dad’s name is Mark.  I have black hair, and my eyes are a dark brown.

At my school in Mrs. Ramsay’s class, we have something called learning teams.  In learning teams we have to earn points.  The points are on a card my teacher might give us 10-100 points every week we have to earn 500 points.  At the end of 9-weeks we have to have 5,000 points and then we get a grand prize.  We can get learning points by being polite, answering questions in complete sentences during class, or being in a straight line, or volunteering to clean up.

The name of my school is Fultondale Elementary.  We have a really big gym. Sometimes there is a wall that rolls down from the ceiling. During gym class, we have separate gym classes. One class gets one end the other class gets the other end.  We have a lot of halls in our school. Each hall is painted in a certain color so people can tell which grade is on each hall.  We also have a big library. We get to check out books once a week.  We have a music teacher to teach us how to play recorder later this year we’re going to learn how to play the piano.

Alabama is a really beautiful state.  We have a lot of trees.  Our state fish is the Large Mouth Bass and our state horse is the Racking Horse.  Alabama has a lot of  fun things to do. You can go to the water parks, the movies, skating, or to the Mc Wane Science Center.  It’s a place where you can learn about science in a more fun way.  Alabama is the most fun state, I think.  I hope one day you will visit .

                                                                                                                               Sincerely,

                                                                                                                                Ally
